Cards for Kids

For our February family service project, we decided to make Valentine Cards to be delivered to children in the local hospital.  The kids had a great time decorating the cards, and we will spend the month praying for the children who receive our cards to have healing and peace.  We also pray that there will be people in their lives who will share with them the love of Jesus, the One who brings ultimate healing. 

Homework: Super Cute Siblings

The other day, Edison and Lucy were playing outside. They decided to go for a wagon ride. Soon, Clay got into his Bumbo and Lucy took the boys for a ride. Clay was super cute in his Bumbo and helmet. Edison really had fun riding in the wagon with his brother, Clay. Clay was enjoying it very much until they stopped to get a picture.

We told Edison if he kept his pants dry for five days, he could have a big boy carseat. He did and now he is super proud of himself.
Edison also learned  the Pledge of Alliegance. Lucy learned it at school, and taught it to him. When he says  it, he is adorable!

Lucy goes to Pre K at  Risen Savior Preschool. She goes to school every Tues. Wed. and Thurs. She loves being there. Whenever  she gets home she teaches Edison all she learned at school.  She constantly talks  about her friends Colton and Isabella, "the quiet one"as Lucy calls her. There is also a boy named William in her class who she talks about. Lucy has tons of fun at school and asks constantly, " When am I going to have school again?" Every month she has a Bible verse and is almost always the first one that memorizes it. Helmet Head

Our little man has been keeping us very busy these days!  The last month has been hard on him as he tries to battle all the winter cold germs that are going around.  He's also been having a hard time with his feedings.  His current schedule includes feedings every two or three hours, 10 doses of medication a day, 8 breathing treatments a day, and now a helmet on/helmet off schedule every couple hours.  We have also doubled our therapy, so we have 3 at home and 3 clinic sessions each week.  Add in a doctor appointment or so each week, and he is the most high maintenance man I've ever met!  Good thing he's so cute and loveable! 
He started wearing his helmet on Friday and will be wearing it 23 hours a day by Tuesday.  So far, he doesn't seem to mind.  I guess with all he's been through he's learned to be very tolerant and pick his battles. 
   

Daddy in Charge

Here's a what happened when I left Greg in charge for a few hours Friday night... and of course it was so much fun, it couldn't be cleaned up until Sunday night.  Usually the furniture gets pushed together to make a boat, but I guess with the sinking of that cruise ship recently, they figured they'd be safer in a cave this time.

Clay's Second Tooth



Isabel and Maya generally do 2 journal entries each week as part of their Language Arts.  I gave them the option of doing a blog post instead of a journal this week.  I let them choose the topic and take the pictures.  Of course they chose to write about their favoite two things in the whole world: Edison & Clay.

Clay got his second tooth the other day. He smiles alot, especially when Maya smiles or Isabel tickles his feet.He also really enjoys being held and played with. Clay is also getting spoiled and sometimes will cry until you pick him up. He loves to laugh! Clay also loves hair. He will pull anyone's hair he can get a hold of!Clay enjoys playing with his feet and his hands.

Edison is potty-training. We bought him a big boy carseat yesterday,but he has to keep his pants dry for five days before he is allowed to ride in it. So far today Edison has kept his pants dry, but he still has four days to go. Usually he keeps his pants dry if we are shopping, but not if he is playing at home. Edison loves playing with his stuffed animals, cars, and trains. He also enjoys playing with his little brother, Clay.

Day Four & Counting...

Sweet Baby Clay

Clay was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, for what we hoped would be a short stay.  He seemed to have a stomach bug and his lungs were sounding pretty rough.  Four days later, we are still here.  Thankfully, Clay is making progress, unfortunately it is slow.  Maybe tomorrow will be our lucky day...

Saturday ended up being our lucky day!  We went home that evening. 

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today we celebrated Greg's birthday.  Maya was up bright and early ready to serve breakfast in bed.  Edison wanted to help, but in the end he really just wanted to eat Greg's breakfast! 

After church we headed to Vinnie's for some pizza.  We ended the day with a pumpkin pie - Greg's request instead of a birthday cake.  I went all out a bought some whipped cream in a can.  I am not sure if I had a moment of dyslexia or just sleep-deprived stupidity, but for some reason I wrote '34' on the pie.  Greg and the kids were laughing like crazy thinking I was trying to be funny.  I hate to admit it, but it took me a minute to figure out what they thought was so funny.  Most people his age would appreciate a few years being shaved off :)

Clay is doing amazingly well!  He has changed so much in the three short months since he became our son.  We will soon celebrate his first half birthday.  The kids think he's the best toy in the world.  It is already hard to remember what life was like without him. 

On Christmas Day, Clay's first tooth made an appearance (if you look close on the photo below you can see it).  He is now working on tooth number 2.  Hopefully some day soon he'll be able to use those teeth for eating! 

Last night Maya was holding Clay and started giggling about something.  Pretty soon Clay was giggling right along.  Of course as soon as we got the camera out, nothing was as funny, but here is a little video of Clay giggling and hiccupping.

Blankets for China

We decided as a family that this year we want to be more intentional about being the hands and feet of Jesus to others.  Our goal is to find a service project each month that we can complete as a family.  Our first project was to make some blankets to send to an orphanage in China.  Each of the girls helped.  Then we prayed over the blankets and for the children who will be kept warm because of them and sent them off.   

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Let the Blogging Begin

My dear friend Brandi has been bugging encouraging me for years to start blogging.  It just isn't really my thing to write or read blogs, but as a tribute to our friendship, Brandi, here it goes...
